Who we are.
Some days, a few quiet words come easily. Other days, simply pausing is enough. However you arrive, we’re glad Quiet Thread can be part of your practice. Caring for that space includes being clear about your privacy.
Quiet Thread is a daily yoga-philosophy and reflection app. This policy covers the Quiet Thread app, including development and beta versions, and quietthread.app. Quiet Thread is responsible for deciding how the information described here is used. Contact us at [email protected].
Features can differ between versions. This policy describes information handling when you use the relevant feature; it does not mean every feature is available in a public release.
Back to contentsThe information
behind your practice.
Remembering your practice, keeping your pages, helping when something goes wrong: each involves information. Here is what we handle and why.
Your account
If you create an account, our authentication service handles your email address, account identifier, and sign-in information. When you choose Apple or Google sign-in, we receive the information that provider shares for authentication, which may include your name and email address. We use this to sign you in and keep your account separate from other accounts.
Your practice
The app stores your chosen qualities, challenges, yoga familiarity, reminder settings, saved practices, carried dates, and related preferences to personalize the practice and remember where you left off. Onboarding answers are stored securely on your device and are not sent as analytics properties.
Your membership
Apple processes App Store payments. Our purchase-management provider helps verify purchases, restore access, and determine membership status. This involves an app user identifier, purchase and subscription records, and technical information such as app and operating-system versions. Quiet Thread does not receive your full payment-card details.
Your messages
When you email us, we receive your message, email address, and anything you choose to include. Please do not send passwords, journal entries, or other sensitive information you do not need to share. Suggestions posted to the feedback board are public, as explained below.
Visits to this website
Our hosting provider delivers and protects this site. Delivering a page involves technical information such as your IP address, request time, browser information, and the requested URL. The website does not have a signup form or advertising pixels. We have not added product analytics or session replay to the current app.
Back to contentsYour journal.
Its storage and sync.
A thought you’re still finding words for. Something you want to remember. Whatever brings you to the page, your writing can be deeply personal. Here is how it is stored, and what that protection does and does not mean.
Your journal is encrypted on your device. When you are signed in and journal sync is available, your journal entries sync automatically over an encrypted connection to your account’s cloud storage. This supports keeping your pages across devices. Anonymous journal entries are not synced.
Cloud-synced journals are not end-to-end encrypted. Your entries are not public, but Quiet Thread and its hosting provider can technically access the cloud copy to operate the service. Device encryption does not make the cloud copy readable only by you.
Read about your rights and choicesYour personal resolve, or Sankalpa, is stored securely on your device. We do not send journal, reflection, or Sankalpa text to advertising services, product analytics, or AI models. Core teachings are editorially authored; your writing is not used to generate them.
If you choose “Take your pages with you,” the app creates a readable export and opens your device’s sharing options. You decide where it goes. The destination you choose then handles that copy under its own policies.
Back to contentsA small circle of services.
We use service providers for specific functions. They receive the information needed for those functions, not an unrestricted copy of everything in the app.
- Account & storage
- Providers that authenticate your account and store synced journal entries receive the sign-in information, account identifiers, and content needed for those functions.
- Purchases
- Apple and our purchase-management provider process transaction records and app user identifiers to verify membership and restore purchases. We do not receive full payment-card details.
- Website & support
- Hosting, security, and email providers process website requests and support correspondence so we can deliver the site and respond to you.
- Optional services
- If you choose Apple or Google sign-in, that provider handles authentication under its own privacy policy. If you open our public feedback board, Sleekplan handles your posts, comments, votes, and the technical data and browser storage needed to operate it. The app does not automatically send your account identity or journal to the board. Visit the public feedback board. About feedback-board storage.
We do not sell your personal information or share it for targeted advertising. We may disclose information where legally required, to respond to a valid legal request, or to protect people and the service from fraud or abuse.
Where processing happens
Providers may process information in the United States and other countries outside your home country. Protections and legal rights can differ by location. Contact us for information about the providers and transfer arrangements relevant to your account.
Back to contentsYour rights.
Your choices.
You can change your preferences, turn reminders off in the app or iOS Settings, remove journal passages, and export your journal. Posting to the feedback board is optional. Avoid putting private account, payment, or personal writing details in public posts.
Access, correction, and deletion
For access to your personal information, correction, deletion, or a copy of account data, email [email protected]. We may need to verify that the request comes from the account owner. An in-app account-deletion flow is not yet available. Removing the app does not by itself delete server records or cancel an Apple subscription; manage subscriptions through your Apple account.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to object to processing, restrict processing, withdraw consent, or receive information in a portable format. You can raise a concern with your local data-protection authority.
Objecting or withdrawing consent
Contact us at [email protected] to object to processing based on legitimate interests or to withdraw consent where processing relies on it. You can also turn off notification permission in iOS Settings. Withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful processing, and some requested features may no longer work without the information needed to provide them.
Why we use information
We use account and membership information to provide the service you request; operational information to keep it secure and respond to support requests; and records required to meet legal obligations. Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, these purposes correspond to providing a contract, legitimate interests in operating a secure service, and legal obligations. Where we rely on consent, you may withdraw it without changing the lawfulness of earlier processing.
Personalization selects from authored teachings using the preferences you choose. We do not use it to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you.
Back to contentsKeeping information
with care.
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the relevant service, maintain your account, respond to a request, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. The appropriate period depends on the record’s purpose and whether you have requested deletion. Purchase, security, and backup records may have different retention requirements from active account data.
Removing an entry from your journal does not immediately erase every cloud or backup copy. Some records remain to keep your devices in sync. Contact us to request deletion of your account and associated personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
Encryption and access controls help protect your information, but no system can guarantee absolute security. Protect access to your device and account, and remember that exported files and public feedback are outside the journal’s private storage.
Children
Quiet Thread is not designed for children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can investigate and address it.
Changes to this policy
We will update the date on this page when the policy changes and provide additional notice where required. We will review this policy as app features and service providers change.
